Wellspring's summer programs offer unique and engaging dance experiences for all levels. We value community, artistic expression, individual differences, and making dance accessible to all.

All programs are held in the stunning Wellspring Theater and are taught by Wellspring company members and Kalamazoo dance educators.

EPIC BROADWAY! is a collaboration between Crescendo Academy of Music and Wellspring Dance Academy. Camp activities will take place between 9am and 4pm each day. Prior to the start of the week, each camper will choose, in collaboration with our vocal teaching artists, a musical theater song that fits the camp’s theme: Millennium Musicals. Monday’s schedule will start with an Orientation Session. The week will culminate in a group Concert for sharing with family and friends that will begin at 7pm on Friday, June 21 (session 1) and Friday, June 28 (session 2).
Daily schedule will include:
Daily Voice Lessons working on a Musical Theater solo/duet.
Learning the basics of Character Development and Staging.
Meeting other campers who have the same passion for Musical Theater.
A Concert Performance on Friday, June 21 (session 1) and Friday, June 28 (session 2)

JULY 8-11, 1P-4P | AGES 7-12

Join us for our “Train Like a Dancer” camp! Geared for ages 7+, this camp will teach your dancer how to train their body and mind for exponential personal growth. Each day will start with theraband exercises to establish proper strengthening and conditioning. Each camp attendee will receive a theraband kit so they can continue their progress at home! Theraband work will be followed by a technique class (styles will vary). Dancers will have a break to enjoy a snack, and then will jump into a supplemental movement class, such as yoga, pilates, and improvisation! The day will conclude with a 30-minute theory chat where we will dive into the mindset of dancers and the power of the mind regarding dance technique!

Embrace your authentic self and discover your True Colors at our Rainbow Dance Camp designed for children aged 7-12. In this camp, we will delve into grounding ourselves and gaining confidence by drawing inspiration from a multitude of colors! Daily class will include a warm-up, dance technique, movement exploration, yoga, mindfulness/meditation, snack time, and daily colorful crafts.

Daily class includes creative movement explorations, dance technique, story creation exploration, story time with local organizations, snack time, and crafts. Participants will be able to explore movement and composition. Participants will learn how to express different emotions and narratives using movement!

10:15-10:30a - Story time with local libraries/organizations. A book of the day will be read each day.

Join us for our immersive choreography camp led by Wellspring/Cori Terry & Dancers Associate Artistic Director, Marisa Bianan! Each day will start with a basic warm-up, which is then immediately followed by a guided improvisation. Each day, we’ll dive into a different choreographic element, such as time, space, dynamics, and lighting/production! Camp attendees will customize their own journal on Day 1 to keep throughout the camp to log their choreography and new knowledge. Each day will conclude with time for the dancers to set choreography as an individual, and as a group. Our last day will feature technical coordinator, Sam Snow. She will work with the students to light their newly created works to present during the final 30 minutes on the last day of camp.
